The 2026 LZH Challenge: Building Spaces for Healing, One Sofa at a Time

Chicago, IL - As Level Zero Heroes Hockey looks ahead to 2026, one thing remains constant: our mission to make a meaningful impact beyond the ice. After an extraordinary year of community support and generosity in 2025, we are proud to officially launch the 2026 LZH Challenge, an initiative focused on providing tangible, life-changing support to those recovering from brain injury.

A Community That Shattered Expectations

In 2025, our supporters helped us do more than reach a fundraising target, we shattered it. Every donation, shared post, and conversation helped raise critical awareness and funding for our beloved SameYou, an organization dedicated to improving recovery outcomes for survivors of brain injury.

That success showed what’s possible when sport, community, and purpose align.

Our 2026 Goal: $12,000 With a Purpose

For 2026, Level Zero Heroes has set a clear and focused goal: raise $12,000 to fund Sanctuary Sofa mentoring platforms.

These Sanctuary Sofas are far more than furniture. They represent safe, welcoming spaces where brain injury survivors and their families can sit together, share experiences, and take part in mentoring programs designed to address both physical rehabilitation and emotional healing.

Recovery doesn’t happen in isolation, and these spaces are built to foster connection, understanding, and hope.

Where the Impact Will Be Felt

The Sanctuary Sofa platforms funded through the 2026 LZH Challenge are intended for placement at two leading institutions:

  • Mount Sinai – New York

  • National Rehabilitation Centre – Loughborough, United Kingdom

Together, these programs have the potential to support up to 750 survivors each year, creating lasting impact on a global scale.

Why It Matters

Brain injury affects not only the individual, but entire families. Access to mentoring, shared experiences, and emotionally supportive environments can dramatically improve long-term recovery outcomes. By funding these Sanctuary Sofa platforms, our community is helping turn clinical spaces into human spaces, places where healing feels possible.
