The Good, The Bad & The Ugly of 2022

by Level Zero Zeroes

Chicago, IL -

The Good – Level Zero Heroes hockey wrapped up 2022 with an overall record of 40-20-2-1 and brought home some hardware.

  • 2022 CAN/AM Bronze Medalist – Fort Lauderdale, FL
  • 2022 Puck Cancer Champions – Co/Ed division – Geneva, IL
  • 2022 Veterans Hockey League Champions – Chicago, IL
  • 2022 World Cup 4th Place finish – Italy

In addition, the team accomplishments, there was plenty of individual ones as well as the following players reached the 100 Point Club in 2022:

  • Jeremy Dennis – May 24th 2022
  • Adam Jablonowski – May 31st 2022
  • Sam Weinstein – July 5th 2022

Organizational milestones in 2022 were:

  • Three Game Series vs. the Puerto Rican National team in which Level Zero Heroes swept.
  • Our Annual LZH Marines vs. Army game was played at the United Center in Chicago, IL and over $2,000 was raised for our beloved SameYou Foundation.
  • First Team Ruck March with the Chicago Veterans Organization
  • Toys for Tots Game vs. the Chicago Fire Department Hockey team – 190 toys were received and donated.

Made some kick ass friends along the way in Florida and Italy.

The Bad – Unfortunately with the good there must come the bad and in 2022 we did have a few bumps on the road.

  • The 911 Las Vegas Cup Tournament – not enough bodies so we had to pull out.
  • The witches curses haunted us in the 4th quarter of 2022 as the we went winless after our return from the World Cup in Italy.

The Ugly - Losing some players either voluntary or involuntary

– Losing players is never a good as we take the time to not only bond and build team chemistry but also its an investment on the individual player since no player financially pays the organization for Jerseys, uniforms, tournaments and leagues.

When a player leaves due to differences with management, it’s also important to acknowledge that same player benefitted greatly and most times the player gave little to nothing in return in most cases to help the team or support our mission which is helping those who cannot help themselves.
